The image flashing on the news channel shows Mr. Strauss Kahn hand in hand with his wife. Both of them smiling cheek to cheek, hands firmly together…telling the world “What did we tell you”!
Its amazing. I Have always wondered, if someone rapes a sex worker (using the right language here), does it not constitute a rape? If a woman performs an act of sex and asks for money for that, does it make her cheap and that she can be dismissed!
Im not taking away the fact that the Chamber maid tried to use this to her advantage and she deserves to be taken to the court for harrassing someone on the wrong context. But what amazes me is that in the entire scenario Mr. DSK has emerged a hero with his ever so doting wife by his side.
First the wife. DSK has a long history of sexual mis-conduct. Doesnt she feel sick or silly. She being the one who is richer amongst the two of them. What keeps her to not ask DSK to get out of the marriage. Instead she almost bends backward to protect him and forgive (I assume forget also) his adventures of the other kinds outside of the marriage. I see lot of married woman tolerating the infidelities of the husband mainly for the financial reasons. This one completely flummoxes me!
I mean, she has the money, grown up kids. Can pay couple of Million Dollars in house rent for DSK etc etc. Why does she need to continue to support him. If it was love, it should be both ways. In fact her look (with all her smiles) was to show how proud she was of her husband…See he didnt actually rape her. He had sex with her and just refused to pay her. She was the devil to ask him money for that…..amazing!
Then the French public. I read today morning that French have begun hating the American media for demonising DSK! So what will they do when their own citizen; a girl who was sexually assualted by DSK is planning to go to the court. They will demonise her as well? The girl must be cheap. Her mother told her to keep quiet. Why is she bringing the case up now?
Why is it that men get away scot free and supported by their very own wives and citizens. If a woman was to do the same, she would be labelled characterless, immoral, out to get her way, corporate bitch, man eater and so on.
Its not a gender debate Im trying to project. Im just simply surprised at the way the entire thing is turning out and the fact that DSK, IMF chief showed a gross misconduct; no one seems to care!
Such is life….and such are the wives (some of them :))
